Class I	Less than 16 ft.	$20.00
Class II	16 ft. to 25 ft.	$25.00
Class III	26 ft. to 39 ft.	$75.00
Class IV	40 ft. and above	$100.00

Boats are not titled in Alabama. Unless the boat is 16 ft to 26ft and the year model is 2024 or newer and with a motor greater than 75 hp. 

BOAT REGISTRATIONS

·        You can renew your boat registration online by visiting www.altagrenewals.com then choose Winston County

ALL New Boat Purchases will not be processed after 4:00pm

A used boat purchased from an individual in the state of Alabama or out of state you MUST have:

·        Bill of Sale with sellers’ signature and must contain:

o   AL number or out of state number

o   Year model

o   Make

o   HULL Number

o   Make of motor

§   Horsepower and motor serial number

·        The last registration from the last owner that the boat was registered to

·        Driver license for each registrant

A new boat purchased from a dealer in the state of Alabama or from an out of state dealer that is 16’ to26’ and the year model is 2024 or newer MUST have:

·        Manufactured Certificate of Origin or title application from the Alabama deal or Alabama lienholder.

·        Bill of Sale with sellers’ signature and must contain:

o   Year model

o   Make

o   HULL Number

o   Length of boat

o   Make of motor

§   Horsepower and motor serial number

·        Name and Address

·        Date of Birth

·        Unexpired Driver’s License (copy will be accepted)

·        Current and Valid Phone Number

If the boat is less than 18 ‘and has a motor of less than 75horsepower, those will not be titled.

Pursuant to Alabama Administrative Rule 220-6-.05:

If a boat is purchased outside of Winston County, you must have the former owner’s last registration and bill of sale.

If a boat is purchased out of state, you must either have the last registration and bill of sale OR the title that list that state’s registration number and bill of sale.
